Getting there!

Week 3 Week 3

O.K. you all know what's coming next! Please don't give up this training now, if you do, it means you haven't tried it properly and seen the already very positive results. It's now time to be AWARE of other times you have felt in the past you needed a cigarette.Has it really been so terrible not to be able to smoke in the cinema or restaurant? Have you gone for a couple of hours enjoying yourself and then lit up a cigarette as soon as you could? only then to find you didn't actually ENJOY it? you only lit up because it was a habit to do so.Well now you know it is so why not leave it for 15 minutes? FIGHT THE OBVIOUS! You will smoke when YOU feel like unwrapping your cigarettes and writing them down! So week 3: No smoking for 45 minutes after: getting up................having a drink...........eating and for 45 minutes prior to going to bed.................................................................................................................................................................................

How is the list looking?
I found even after the first day, when I looked at my list,I had actually smoked HALF the cigarettes I normally smoked and actually craved only about 5 ( and I am talking about a 40 a day habit!) You have less nicotine going into your system, you are going for long periods smoke free so cravings are becoming easier to deal with as you now know they are very easily over with.

Week 4
DON'T SMOKE UNTIL 1 HOUR AFTER GETTING UP...............1 HOUR AFTER A DRINK................1 HOUR AFTER EATING.............1 HOUR PRIOR TO GOING TO BED. Continue wrapping and writing, Remember at this stage you have TAKEN CONTROL.More than you ever thought you could! You have cut out the automatic reaching for a cigarette, you have stopped the cigarettes you thought were the most important - they weren't were they? Why not add others you think might be significant - no smoking on the phone,in the car, after an argument or whatever??

HOORAY...TWO WEEKS TO GO!!
Can't wait? such a lot to look forward to and it's so easy! The smell and taste of smoking is now becoming offensive to you as you realise by lighting up you have just ruined your freshly laundered clothes, your clean hair and your minty fresh breath!! and unwrapping that bloody packet is becoming a bore! Give up those last few now as some do if you wish but please come back to us should you need to re-in force your determination.Nicotine patches are really good and a great help in weaning off but only use them if you feel yourself slipping,do ANYTHING but go back to smoking, best to continue this programme until THE celebration day as by then you'll be thoroughly fed up with the whole thing and longing to be done with it!!

Week 5
Just continue with the one hour routine. You have tackled this as a project and to get this far you have already won! It is still most important to keep those cigarettes wrapped. It is the only thing that reminds you PHYSICALLY of your ultimate goal. Tell your loved ones and friends what you are doing,be very proud of yourself and they will support you, the few that are still smoking will probably want to un-learn the habit too!

Week 6
It's finally here, and a day to be looking forward to.Prior to your CELEBRATION DAY: Before going to bed: Smoke as much as you want and then go and flush any remaining cigarettes down the toilet.Clean and put away the ashtrays and throw away any lighters.YOU'VE DONE IT! Tomorrow is going to be THE DAY you have been looking forward to. I can assure you, you will sleep like a baby, feeling great and looking forward to your day of success.

INSPIRATION
I hope you really took my advice and celebrated the day you overcame an immense hurdle in your life. I have never forgotten the story of a lady who gave up smoking after many years. She lost her only daughter and when asked " Don't you want a cigarette at a time like this?"she answered " If I could bring my daughter back by smoking a million cigarettes,I would".This lady confirmed to me that however bad the situation, smoking will NEVER make it better.Being strong in your self belief will.

"Herein is not only a great vanity, but a great contempt of God's good gifts,That the sweetness of man's breath, being a good gift of God,should be wilfully corrupted by this stinking smoke"........................King James 1 of England and V1 of Scotland.1566-1625

Never give up giving up
Why not look on other pages in this little magazine to maybe play a quick game or buy a new outfit OR with all the money you save,go on a long weekend!! Whatever, you have given up physically, don't allow those little brain urges to kick in! NEVER think you can have "just one" I did it after finding an odd cigarette after six weeks of very hard fought for abstinence - I went straight out and bought a pack of twenty!!! It took me another whole year until I decided to TRAIN myself off, giving me a much more HABIT FORMING way to replace an OLD habit.

YOU DID IT - WELL DONE!!
