I have moved many times in my life,to other countries and here in England.The one thing that is constant is that making real friends takes time.The best way to start is with what I call the "Ripple Effect" ALWAYS take the trouble to introduce yourself to new neighbours.They may be from different backgrounds or walks of life but they live in your street or your block so - you are all equal!They have friends and parties so the ripple begins to widen.Don't forget to ask them for help,people are actually flattered when it is THEM you turn to for help as it means you trust and value them.The same goes at work. One person to befriend,maybe not the most popular person but going out for an after work drink leads you to the Ripple Effect of meeting new people.
